Generally, it takes a couple of weeks. Meanwhile, you have to turn over the compost every week and should be mixed well. If anyone wishes to speed up the composting time, the larger materials you mix to the compost must be crumbled into smaller pieces so that it helps to decay quickly. The thicker compost takes time to decay. keep your compost wet by sprinkling water and there should be enough space to circulate the air. When the compost is decaying, it smells as mud or soil.

How to compost accurately?

you can select an area or a bin. When selecting a bin, keep the lid it tight and fit. the compost bin is more factual and easier if you do not have enough outer space. On the other hand, if there is enough space in your backyard, choose a suitable place, and make a pile.

As for a beginner, you have to have a clear understanding of the correct layering of the compost. The first layer should be gravel or straw or something similar to that which helps for drainage.

Then the next layer should be carbon or as we know the “brown” material layer which nearly should be six inches. Make sure to crumble the wood if you wish to include them in your compost.

Then make the Nitrogen or the “green” layer which should be about three inches. Make sure to sprinkle the water once you finish this layer. But the compost should not be much damp.

Once the layering is over, cover your compost pile with anything like carpet, plastic which helps to keep the compost moisturized and heated. It also helps to prevent the compost from being exposed to the rain.

This way you have to keep doing and repeat the layers. To gain a successful compost pile, you have to turn it frequently and sprinkle water to keep it wet. That way the decaying of the materials starts soon. When your compost is ready to use, it looks like soil.

What are the issues in compost making and how do I fix them?

One common problem that arises is the smell. When there is too much water which is happened due to the inability of proper air circulation. The best solution for this matter is to mix more brown materials and turn over the compost.

If you feel the decaying process takes longer, mix more greenery substances and sprinkle water as it happens due to the dehydration of the compost pile. As well as if the compost is too much damp, add extra “brown” substances.
